I know you are also suffering from hairfall problem. It has become quite common in today's generation. In their teenage years, 90% of the boys are suffering from this problem. Some of them are about to be bald in their teenage years. All of them are trying to find the solution to the hair fall problem. But they can't find any solution. They also tried many shampoos that claim their shampoos fix the hair fall problem. Some of them also tried or began trying some products of different companies (I don't include any companies name) that claim their product can fix this problem, which is totally wrong. And like you many teenagers invest money like this product but don't get any return. In today's blog or article we are trying to understand why the hair fall occurs from the root. Let me start!

Hair fall is medically termed alopecia. Alopecia is a common that affects millions of people worldwide. While losing a few strands of hair daily is natural but excessive shedding can be a cause for worry. Understanding the reasons behind hair fall can help manage and prevent it effectively.

Why does the hair fall occur?

1. Hormonal Changes:-

In the teenage years, While we are in puberty or hit puberty our hormones fluctuations level is in peak. And the hormones like testosterone and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) becomes imbalance in this stage. These hormones leads to the shrinkage of hair follicles and started to hair thinning. This is on the boys.

 But in the case of girls, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome(PCOS) is a common hormonal condition that affects women of reproductive age. It usually starts during adolescence, but symptoms may fluctuate over time. In this condition PCOS also contributes to Hairfall in teenage girls.


2. Nutritional Deficiencies

Many of teenager eats outside food or street food rather than homemade food. So they don't consume essential nutrients which leads to imbalance diet. They prefer to eat street or packed food because they have many pressure from parents and school about study. They don't have much time, they have to do school assignments or busy schedules so they prefer junk food. They didn't get proper nutritional so they have deficiencies in iron, zinc, vitamin D, biotin, and protein which is essential nutrients for teenagers to grow. In the deficiency of the above nutrients, they have problems like weaken hair and result in shedding.


3. Stress and Emotional Factors

School and colleges gave more pressure to the teenagers and they are grow to evolving technology. So they are more friendly with technology and use more social medias. Due to the use of excessive social media they don't have the idea to talk with any person in society. So they have to face social challenges. Due to evolving technology and academic pressure, teenagers have mental health issues like anxiety and depression. And all the things that give stress can lead to hair fall through a condition called telogrn effluvium. Physical stress, such as illness or rapid weight loss, can also disrupt the hair growth cycle.


4. Poor Hair Care Practices




To look cool and attractive some teenagers use hair stylish products such as harmful shampoos, gel, hairdryer, etc. Overuse of such heating stylish tools, chemical treatment or harsh hair products can damage the scalp and weaken hair strands. 

Tight hairstyles, like ponytails or braids, can cause traction alopecia, a type of hair loss due to tension on hair follicles.


5. Scalp Conditions and Infections

Issues like dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, or fungal infections can affect scalp health and lead to hair loss.

Poor scalp hygiene can exacerbate these problems.



6. Genetics

If there is a family history of androgenetic alopecia (pattern baldness), hair loss may begin as early as the teenage years.


7. Medical Conditions and Medications

Chronic conditions such as thyroid imbalances or autoimmune disorders like alopecia areata can cause hair loss.

Certain medications, including those for acne or mental health conditions, may list hair fall as a side effect.



8. Lifestyle Choices

Lack of sleep, sedentary habits, and excessive screen time can affect overall health, including hair.

Smoking or exposure to environmental pollutants may also contribute to hair thinning.


How to Manage and Prevent Teenage Hair Fall?

1. Adopt a Balanced Diet

Teenagers have to include foods rich in iron (spinach, lentils), protein (eggs, fish), zinc (seeds, nuts), and vitamins (fruits, vegetables). Drink as much water as you can and you have hydrated to maintain overall scalp health.


2. Practice Proper Hair Care

Use mild shampoos and conditioners suited to your hair type. 

Avoid excessive heat styling and chemical treatments.

Limit the use of tight hairstyles that strain the scalp.


3. Manage Stress

Encourage stress-relief activities like yoga, meditation, or outdoor exercise.

Maintain a healthy work-life balance and prioritize sleep.


4. Address Scalp Issues

Treat dandruff or fungal infections with appropriate medicated shampoos.

Consult a dermatologist for persistent scalp problems.


5. Seek Medical Advice

If hair fall is severe or sudden, consult a doctor to rule out underlying medical conditions like thyroid disorders or alopecia areata.

A dermatologist may recommend treatments such as:

Medications like minoxidil for hair growth

Supplements for addressing nutritional deficiencies
